Walter Cronkite edition. As a three year old, I once tried to avoid a nap with the excuse that I wanted to "watch Walter Cronkite." And yes, I actually DO have vague memories of that.
And so it goes.
Sorry for just the single post today...will try to get something out tomorrow or Sunday.
UPDATE: Maybe it's just me, but I found the degree to which various television stations seemed, well, prepared for eulogizing Cronkite just a little creepy. Additionally weird was how so many "newspeople" (and I use the term loosely) were literally phoning it in. To his credit, Dan Rather at least showed up in person, but the rest were all on the telephone...wonder what was so important on a Friday night, although that might also explain why journalism is in the state it's in.
One more thing: I didn't see or hear anything from Roger Mudd, who was first runner up back in 1981, Miss Congeniality to Rather's taking of the crown and throne...but then again, I wasn't paying too much attention, having chores and whatnot, plus dealing with a not real happy cat who'd just been given flea meds.
