Another mid-winter edition, this time hoping for warmer days ahead. It's not as cold as two weeks ago, but the wintry mix made it plenty annoying. I'd almost forgotten what it was like to scrape ice off a car...almost. Anyway, have a good weekend.

The picture above is of a lovely statue of Buddha, created circa 1100 (the Wikipedia article says 1100 BC, but I'm guessing they mean CE), today located at Jungle Gardens in Iberia Parish, Loosiana, anyway, pleasant and impressive enough...but don't tell that to the School Board in Sabine Parish:

A public school in Louisiana allegedly advised a Buddhist family to change their beliefs if they didn’t want their child to face harassment from zealous teachers. 

Because nothing says diversity and tolerance like...public schools pushing the creation myth of a single religion...a religion they've distorted beyond recognition at that.

They're Addicted To Hate

Sorry to drag the late Robert Palmer into this (don't have particularly strong feelings for him one way or the other), but IMHO an editorial earlier this week about the pathology of Wall Street could easily be reworked to explain the pathology of wingnuttery. It's not like their hatred was ever particularly useful, but the pursuit of hate has come to truly define them. They don't care about much of, well, anything -- not even their alleged religious scruples -- but instead have locked into hate as a goal in itself. And that's the real legacy of "conservatism."

It's going to continue to be an awfully bumpy ride -- emphasis on "awful."

This stuff is straight up loony tunes, yet it comes from someone who wields a fair amount of influence...in Texas, of course (go figure), but still...

Anyway, why even bother with a Photoshopped image? Actually, it's also a good night to take a break. Every once in a while, it's helpful...tomorrow I should have something original.

In the meantime, I'm just shaking my head at the sheer batshit insanity.
