Friday Cat Blogging With Photoshop
From Album3

Photoshopped Santa hat edition -- no way would the cat ever allow an actual hat on his head.

This is the first picture of Tigger I saw. I'd had another orange cat that alas went off to that great little courtyard garden in the sky. Getting a new cat wasn't entirely a priority; however, between this picture and the mouse I saw scurrying around in the kitchen on Christmas Eve 2007 (a creature WAS stirring)...anyway, the boy's been in residence since 2008, and here's hoping for many years beyond.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Saturnalia, Rite of Dinoysus, and Merry Solstice, too.

Have a good weekend.

Morning Joe reveals his man crush...I guess the remaining Flab Four members could be Huckabee and Barbour...and...I dunno, maybe Dennis Hastert.

Talk about a ton of dead weight.

Proudly saying "Happy Holidays" edition.

That's a view I could REALLY get used to -- I might could even deal with northern winters if that's what was outside the window.

Otherwise, in the news today...why am I not surprised?

Our Right to Know
From Album3

Michael Moore raises a good point:
I ask you to imagine how much different our world would be if WikiLeaks had existed 10 years ago. Take a look at this photo. That's Mr. Bush about to be handed a "secret" document on August 6th, 2001. Its heading read: "Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US." And on those pages it said the FBI had discovered "patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings." Mr. Bush decided to ignore it and went fishing for the next four weeks.

But if that document had been leaked, how would you or I have reacted? What would Congress or the FAA have done? Was there not a greater chance that someone, somewhere would have done something if all of us knew about bin Laden's impending attack using hijacked planes?

But back then only a few people had access to that document. Because the secret was kept, a flight school instructor in San Diego who noticed that two Saudi students took no interest in takeoffs or landings, did nothing. Had he read about the bin Laden threat in the paper, might he have called the FBI? (Please read this essay by former FBI Agent Coleen Rowley, Time's 2002 co-Person of the Year, about her belief that had WikiLeaks been around in 2001, 9/11 might have been prevented.)

I'd personally like to ask any prominent winger whether, if they could somehow go back in time, they would try to stop the attack. Their response(s) would be...interesting.

Mitchferatu
From Album3

Look, like everyone else with at least some functioning brain cells, I'm pissed about the latest cave in...Obama promised "Change," not Bill Clinton...indeed, he explicitly rejected Clinton as a campaign tactic, if I remember right...

On the other hand, I never was much of a Clinton fan -- I voted for him in 1992, I voted for Nader in 96, and generally considered Bill, at best, ok for a Republican.

However, I warmed more than just a bit to the Big Dog subsequently. At least he was competent. And look what we ended up with: George W. Bush.

Obama may be merely the lesser of evils, but goddamned if the greater of evils is...really, truly evil.

And for the life of me I can't figure out why our modern media gives the likes of Mitch McConnell -- or Jon Kyl -- the freest of free rides...well, aside from the fact that the corporate media is...the corporate media.

We're Losing to These Guys?
From Album3

Sigh. Ok, it's late, I'm a little tired from exercise, and my cat has finally calmed down...so, no link. Maybe I'll have a bit more tomorrow at First Draft, but for now...geez. It's one thing to fight the good fight and lose...

And yeah, it's not like I'm unaware of how much the deck is stacked against liberalism...but show some spine, for chrissakes...

Press Versus Publicity

If you get a moment, take a look at Rachel Maddow's brilliant take down of your modern press corpse and the free ride they've given the GOP (look for the Tuesday November 16th show.)

Friday Cat Blogging With Photoshop
From Album3

Tigger gets another close-up this week, with the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai in the background. Like me, the boy is wondering how anyone can believe the nonsense spewing from the right wing noise machine/puke funnel re: the cost of Obama's trip to India in his, you know, official capacity as President of the United States.

And if they'll lie about that, what WON'T they lie about?

Have a good weekend...

Hey -- The Son of a Bitch Wants Less Government?
From Album3

Then the Obama administration should give him less government. Less government than he or his teatards could dream of.

I'm not an expert on the functionality of the feds, but the Executive Branch MUST have some way to give McConnell et al a lesson they'll never forget. Pull every goddamned federal dollar you can, from him, from Alaska, from every jurisdiction that claims to want "less government." Let's see just how much less they want.

And don't give them a nickel until they learn to behave.

Bob Herbert reminds us that a number of fat cats did just fine during the economic meltdown; better than ever in fact. And they're continuing to rake it in while presumably enjoying the free for all amongst us groundlings for the remaining crumbs.

Sigh. Will we ever learn?

Not So Sweet Tea
From Album3

Well, I'm sure everyone stopping by has seen this, but it doesn't make it any less depressing, no pun intended.

A Competing Vision
From Album3

Not to single Rand Paul out, but last night's incident -- which, fortunately, hasn't appeared to cause any significant injury -- is merely the logical result of a movement that is absolutely centered on hatred and at least the threat of violence...

What's sowed is eventually reaped. And I seriously doubt all these alleged "patriots" really want to see the breakdown of civil society...
