Campaigning Is Hard...
...well, if you can't demonstrate a bare minimum of honesty.
I mean, jeez, it's not like Haley stands the slightest chance of being nominated, and the odds of getting TFG's nod for VP is roughly equivalent.

On Tape
You can Google it, and it's news in Michigan, but once again, the elite media can barely be bothered by TFG and his sidekick Ronna making what could be credibly called an attempt to bribe public officials.
It will disappear in a news cycle or two, as will this.
Oh, by the way, here's the flip side of fair & balanced
Yes, the headline sums up the story, but you have to read some 20-30 paragraphs to grasp just how ridiculous this non-evidence is, but which is nonetheless being touted by House Repubs as some kind of big deal.
Pathetic.
Have a good weekend.

The House Looking Like A Rummage Sale
Ghouliani plays the bankruptcy card.
LOL, one of the listed creditors in the filing is...Hunter Biden.
Still, I expect we'll get at least one or two human interest type stories, some mix/match of how sad it all is and how far he's fallen from the days of America's (read that as "America's Elite Media") Mayor.
Perhaps a few paragraphs about his unsteady gait and memory lapses.
Well, too goddamn bad.
For whatever reason, I remembered that a while back America's Creep Mayor claimed he was assaulted. I'd forgotten the details, but have a look.
Think about that -- he was willing to destroy two women on a whim, but whined and cried about non-existent injuries when someone sarcastically gave him a very light slap/tap on the back.
He belongs in a jail cell. Too bad that'll never happen.

Glutton For Punishment
The headline shouldn't be ...[Moss and Freeman] sue Giuliani again, it should indicate Ghouliani went out of his way to slander both again.
Why? Who knows? Maybe it'll delay the end result of the first suit, or maybe because the guy's such an egotistical piece of shit that he needs the attention, or both, or perhaps he thinks/hopes it'll help with raising money or whatever.
Ms. Moss and Ms. Freeman had their lives ruined for no good reason. None.
Time to pay for what you did, Rudy.
What a dirt bag.

Let Him Eat Shit
There will be endless appeals -- frivolous lawsuits only apply to the unwashed masses -- but it's part of the record now, and goddamn him.
Asshole doesn't even begin to describe...

But Her Emails
Just a periodic reminder that as special counsel Jack Smith petitions the SCOTUS to rule against TFG's assertion of executive privilege as lifetime absolute immunity (basically just short of l'etat-est-moi, and if he does get elected next year...)
Anyway, it's worth remembering that not quite eight years ago your elite media was almost universal in insisting that Hillary Clinton's email server management was tantamount to imposing tyranny.
Am wondering if actual promises of imposing tyranny might generate some equivalent level of high dudgeon...

Yawn
Another contractual obligation media non-event I won't be watching.
Meanwhile, time to bring out the empty box for Austin, San Antonio, and Las Vegas. Pretty sure it's not the first mass shooting in any of these cities.

The Banality Of Evil
I'd thought about some kind of welcome-to-hell, Henry K, but, that's the easy play, plus I'm short on time (as usual).
And while I don't generally sneer or mock people for being old and decrepit (I'm either getting there or already there, depending on who's judging); anyway, I'll make an exception for the guy pictured above.
It's hardly the justice Kiss-off-inger deserves, but here's hoping his final years had him feeling, well, as awful as he looked.
Not the nicest thing to say, but HK wasn't a very nice person.
The world is better without him.

Sense Of Entitlement
After going out of his way to make Twitter crash and burn like the Hindenburg/implode like the OceanGate/descend into crude antisemitism (choose your preference or create your own), Musk blames advertisers for not wanting to associate with him.
Oh, and in other news, an old, creepy, evil man died today.
Maybe I'll post about that tomorrow.

America's Gun
The WaPo reports (paywall removed/gift article) on the kind of damage an AR-15 is capable of.
The same AR-15 that some want to make the official firearm, and that others have turned into lib-triggering pendants.

Well, Maybe Just A Little Bit Of Collusion
And, of course, America's brainworm-addled Mayor is in the middle of it...which might explain why America's-brainworm-addled Mayor's biggest touts -- the elite media -- basically let TFG, et al, dictate the narrative...

Grand Old Bullies
Kevin McCarthy and Markwayne Mullin demonstrated their pettiness and brattiness today.
Maybe not quite the spectacle of General Turgidson fighting with Ambassador de Sadesky in the War Room, but it's also real life and not a movie...

A Rigged Election
Yes, it was rigged, but it was TFG who tried to rig it.
And he did his usual piss poor, shit job.
Oh, he's also a fascist.
Sure, that's a horrible thing to say, but I hear (basket of) deplorable(s) is officially frowned upon.
Though for some reason vermin isn't.

GOB-Smacked
Not dictionary definition gobsmacked.
Man-of-La-Manchin announced he's stepping away from the Senate to either spend more time selling GOB (Garbage of Bituminous) or to pollute the political climate.
Credit where it's due, he helped a watered down version of Biden's domestic agenda pass, though he and his tag-team partner Sinema could always be counted on to be flies in the ointment.
Bye.

The Irrelevants, Live On Stage This Evening
Another one I won't be watching....tonight's event is filler, second-tier soufflè.
Mostly good news on the elections yesterday, though the elite media will come up with some way to make it bad news for Democrats generally/Biden specifically (my favorite--Ohio's strong vote in favor of women's reproductive rights "takes the issue off the table" in next year's Senate election...righhhhhhht).
Anyway, to paraphrase TFG, the gist of the deal...is done.
TFG owns the GOP, which itself is largely evangelical Christian, truly a match made in hell. He's their avatar, their Dear Maximum Leader, whatever..
Can they win next year? Unfortunately, yes.
Can they be stopped? Yes, and let's hope that happens.

Chief Justice Captain Obvious
Credit where it's due
Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. said there was little question that Mr. Rahimi, who has been accused of a string of shootings, posed a threat to public safety.“You don’t have any doubt that your client is a dangerous person, do you?” the chief justice asked Mr. Rahimi’s lawyer, J. Matthew Wright.Mr. Wright said he would “want to know what ‘dangerous person’ means.”Chief Justice Roberts supplied a definition. “It means someone who is shooting at people,” he said. “That’s a good start.”Mr. Wright retreated. “That’s fair,” he said.

Tantrum
A septuagenarian who chooses to present as a spray-tanned, hair-dyed (and woven into whatever that is on the top of his head) toddler acted out/made a scene in open court today.
So of course the NY Times says "belligerent and brash, unrepentant and verbose."
Hell, why phone, text, or tweet it in when you can (presumably) let AI generate the story?
What a fucking rotter.

Dancing With The Also Rans
The show must go on, pathetic as it is, and Politico tells us how many second-tier-never-will-be-hopefuls can dance on the head of a pin, I mean, qualify for the next media non-event that will nonetheless be covered and reported on...
Here's my compromise--for once, I'm willing to let AI take the work, especially since I won't pay any attention.
Have a good weekend.

Now He Will Be Known As Sam Bankman Jailed
Crypto was, is, and always will be a scam.
Sure, in some ways it mimics standard business and finance, but it's still a sucker's game.
I have little if any sympathy for those who play it.

Pratt Fall
To repeat, again, it could never happen (the closest equivalent might be Rod "We have this thing and it's a fucking goldmine" Blagojevich) but a Democrat this corrupt would get the full treatment.
And of course TFG is transactional.
That's why he kept all the classified documents.
