I'm old enough to remember when "The American Dream," regardless of the actual reality, was predicated in large measure on improving the station in life for oneself and one's family.

Now it seems that so-called "Americans" -- who, interestingly, loudly declaim for secession while ignoring key words in the Pledge of Allegiance ("indivisible") -- anyway, these days it seems that their "American Dream" is mostly predicated upon abject hostility and smug ugliness towards their fellow citizens.
