Yep, the same folks who conjured up
Death Panels are full of well rehearsed indignation over some
careless remarks by Jonathan Gruber, who played a key role in designing Obamacare...remarks, by the way, rendered moot by the SCOTUS decision affirming the law, since this particular tempest in a teapot is over whether the individual mandate is a tax. Duh. But the hissy fit at this point is as ritualized as Kabuki or a tea ceremony...well, provided it gains some traction. If not, then down the memory hole it goes, replaced by a different faux outrage...
Another day, another Reich wing nut rant. They go on and on and on, almost like the Energizer Bunny, except they have zero substance to their rants and even less actual information to back up the rants. They are just the loudest of the squeaky wheels,
ReplyDeletelooking for some nice grease. We need to either ignore them, not so easy to do as they are very loud. Failing that, we should and must laugh at them. Why take the wingers seriously? They will never actually do anything as they are either too damn lazy or they are out and out cowards, possibly both. True, there may be a few of the "lone wolf" types among them, but I doubt enough to do serious harm to many.
Just my own opinion of course, others will vary.
This is not to let the donkey gang off the hook though. They can be as useless and empty as their counterparts on the right. Face it, 'Merikkka is totally screwed as far as the working class and poor are concerned. Neither wing of the war party actually is willing to do anything positive for those people. Why bother to help the working class and poor? They do not fill the campaign war chests with loads of $100.00 bills and other goodies to get these politicians elected. So, if you cannot contribute huge sums of cash to the politician, you will not get any real help from them. Sorry folks, but that IS the 'Merikkkan way, 2014 and beyond.
I really would like to be less negative, but tell me, just what IS there to be so positive about US politics of late? Yes, the state will be rid of lil' Booby Jindal soon, but look who is salivating in the wings, waiting to move into the governors mansion. Yep, lil' Diaper Davey Vitter.Oh joy (he said very sarcastically)
Hope the rest of your week goes OK. Get well soon, those colds can hang on for a long time.
"The horrible thing about the Two Minutes Hate was not that one was obliged to act a part, but that it was impossible to avoid joining in. Within thirty seconds any pretence was always unnecessary. A hideous ecstasy of fear and vindictiveness, a desire to kill, to torture, to smash faces in with a sledge hammer, seemed to flow through the whole group of people like an electric current, turning one even against one's will into a grimacing, screaming lunatic. And yet the rage that one felt was an abstract, undirected emotion which could be switched from one object to another like the flame of a blowlamp."
ReplyDeleteAm a bit better today on the health front, so good news there...and you're spot-on with the Dems. Look at how they're trying to "help" Mary Landrieu, which is actually no help at all. Hell, even if you're committed to oil and gas, Keystone's a loser, especially with the present surplus. But they sure do like the corporate campaign contributions.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the good old Two Minutes Hate is exactly that. Hardly matters exactly what to hate, as long as it IS hate...or, in modern terms, the negative political campaign. Hate to say it, pun intentional, but hate works...because it's easy. Liking, or even just showing respect, requires a degree of maturity--a realization that we're all only human, but hate strips away the humanity of the object of hatred...and, in the end, just engenders...more hate. The perfect scenario for the demagogue...
