By no means does this mean I've got any sympathy for JBS. Just the opposite: while he's busy salvaging what remains of any dignity he may have once had (emphasis on "may") it's hopefully keeping him from pursuing a genuinely ugly agenda.
But that said, what we're seeing isn't normal. It's a dumbing down and cheapening of some pretty important institutions, government as reality television, hissy fit as national entertainment...and policy. Which is all fine and good as long as something serious doesn't happen...but...if something does, all bets are off. When shit hits a fan, it's not pretty.
