With Friends Like These...

It'd be one thing if the country was, if not a solid democracy, a functioning one.

But Bonfires of the Vanities is happening with a real bonfire getting way, way the fuck out of control. 

And neither Manchin nor Sinema wins. 

At best, maybe -- maybe -- they prolong their careers a bit longer at the expense of  the public they were elected to serve. 

Or maybe they get washed out like everyone else who doesn't pass the ever crazier shibboleths that define MAGAstan and its citizenry...
