Definitely Not Enlightened

From Album 5
The picture above is of a lovely statue of Buddha, created circa 1100 (the Wikipedia article says 1100 BC, but I'm guessing they mean CE), today located at Jungle Gardens in Iberia Parish, Loosiana, anyway, pleasant and impressive enough...but don't tell that to the School Board in Sabine Parish:

A public school in Louisiana allegedly advised a Buddhist family to change their beliefs if they didn’t want their child to face harassment from zealous teachers.

Because nothing says diversity and tolerance like...public schools pushing the creation myth of a single religion...a religion they've distorted beyond recognition at that.

On a related note.

Christ, no pun intended.

  1. The vile "teacher" and the idiot principle along with the entire school board who backed the supposed "teacher" are beyond disgusting. If I said exactly what I think of those cretin like things, you'd ban me forever from your blog. Yes, the old Marine language is rising and rose to quite high heights when I read that story on another blog a few days ago. How low and sick can these supposed "christians" get? The are in reality xtians. They do not follow the golden rule that their own(?) Christ told them to do. Yes, the "do unto others" bit. I do my best every day to treat all I meet the way I want to be treated. Not to brag, but a minister told me some years ago that even though I say I am an atheist, a total non believer in ANY religion, that I was a better christian than many in his own congregation. Funny, I never knew that one supposedly "needed" any religion to be a decent human being. It sure does seem that some who claim to be very religious are extremely non tolerant of others and their beliefs. I have no quarrel with religious people, unless they try and push their brand of silliness onto me.
How very sad that these people(?) are in a position to "teach" children. Sick bastards, and that IS me being very restrained and polite on this matter.
