Another mid-winter edition, this time hoping for warmer days ahead. It's not as cold as two weeks ago, but the wintry mix made it plenty annoying. I'd almost forgotten what it was like to scrape ice off a car...almost. Anyway, have a good weekend.
Great photo blog with CAT today. It never got to 30 here in Alexandria today. We still have snow, yes, real, snow on the ground right now. It will most likely be all melted tomorrow as it is supposed to get to about 50 for the high. Yes sir, very cold and snow. About two plus inches deep on the car this AM. I had an appointment, called the office to see if they made it in. They told me if I didn't wish to drive in, they would reschedule for next week. I took that option. What with snow and icy roads, no way I wanted to be on the roads here today. Man, for the amount it rains here, you'd think the people would know how to slow down when it is raining. LOL, no way jack. We always get plenty of wrecks when it rains. No way I was going to drive anywhere in the snow/ice on the roads today. Hope you have a great weekend. Stay warm and dry Michael. Best to you and yours from snow covered Alexandria.
Likewise, weather-wise Charlie...and damn, it looks like another arctic blast early next week (low of 21 forecast for Tuesday). I'm still trying to figure out how I made it through ten -- make that eleven -- Madison winters where freezing rain was just another hazard.
Yeah, if given the option of not driving, definitely don't. It's not just Loosianians who make weather amateur hour on the highway. You'd think northerners would be experienced winter drivers, but...nope. I guess they spend the short summers unlearning how to get through harsh conditions.
True story: one year -- maybe 1997, if I remember -- winter was slower to arrive than usual. One day in December it actually reached the low 50s, almost unheard of up there. Anyway, a news story mentioned how the auto body shops were worried about the loss of business. In other words, they survived on other's misfortunes.
Well, I'm sure it evened out. Christ, it was almost 20 below in the daytime during the last cold blast. A friend who's still up there told me his power steering line on the car basically shattered, so he drove straight, literally and figuratively, to the shop...only set him back some $500 or so.
Well, good luck up there...enjoy the snow if that's your thing...me? Seen my fair share...I like watching it melt.
