The Gret Stet takes home the gold--or maybe I should say the lead--topping the nation in gun deaths at just under twenty per one hundred thousand people.
By the way, I personally lean towards a broad interpretation of the 2nd Amendment, not because I own guns--I don't--but because guns are already everywhere (at least down here), most gun owners ARE responsible (thank heavens), and attempts to restrict firearms that are already out in society would be met with violent resistance. With guns, Pandora's box was opened long ago.
But, that said, it's foolish and stupid to suggest that gun ownership will keep you safer or anything like that. In fact, the article notes the opposite (States with strict regulations and low incidence of private gun ownership have the lowest rates of gun deaths.)
Far be it from me to suggest people give up their guns. But people need to be aware of the real cost of their fetish.
