Ah yes, the "new" Billy the Kid photo. We had Nat Geo station on the tube this afternoon and they are promoting the crap out of a program about this photo to be on the Nat Geo TV channel soon. No, I don't remember what day, sorry about that. My take on the photo? Big deal. Yeah, some multimillionaire will pay huge piles of cash to own it and then away it goes to some private collection hidden from the public. Well, maybe there will be enough copies of it floating about so all can enjoy it, like there are tens of thousands of copies of that other Billy the Kid photo. Hell, just save the page you linked to and there you have your very own copy of it. Print out a few dozen even. Oh, on your comment from yesterdays' post, you are starting to sound nearly as cynical as me. Hope my cynicism/sarcasm hasn't rubbed off onto you. I didn't intend to do that to anybody Michael. If I did, please accept my sincere apology. Well cheers to you and Mr. Tigger. Have a great weekend. Painting window frames? Time consuming, fussy job, glad it isn't me doing it. (smirk)
Just heard the commercial for the Nat Geo program on this "new" photo. It will be on the tube Sunday at 9PM, that would be 8PM our time I think. They seem to give the air time as EST not CST, so an hour difference. Just FYI, not sure if you get Nat Geo on your TV. Might bbs on the inter webs also, not sure though.
Well, guess I missed the show. Like I said, it's not really much of an interest, beyond noting the age of the photo and that it made the national news because of a mighty big "what if..." I suppose there's some interest due to the folklore...anyway...
At least I was able to knock out a couple more window frames this weekend. Two more badly in need of paint, and another three I'll get to eventually, but they're mostly done.
Otherwise...I'm actually watching -- streaming online, because, hey, I'll be damned, local cable cut C-Span. Go figure. I think I'm the only one who called to ask. Anyway, I'm streaming the C-Span Landmark Cases series, and it's not half bad. Tonight's episode is something called The Slaughterhouse Cases, which has a Loosiana tie (a Louisiana law regulating slaughterhouses in NOLA). Am enjoying the new season of Fargo, with episode 2 on at 9...
As for cynicism...nope. I've long since learned that politicians and pundits are really people whom, as I think H.L. Mencken said, should only be looked down upon. Mencken himself had issues (anti-Semitism, which was pretty common in his day and age, I guess...sort of how in the same vein, we can view old Abraham Lincoln as, well, racist)...but...again, despite that, I have some hope. You've got to. The arc of history is long but bends towards justice, or so I believe...about as close as I'll get to faith.
Well, back to stuff here. Tigger needs some attention.
