Over The Weekend...

James O'Keefe demonstrated why he's not to be taken seriously. Ever.

  1. Does this moron have even one semi functioning brain cell? This guy is really good at failing. No wonder the clowns at Faux Noise like him so much, birds of a feather and all that.
Hope your week goes well. Try to stay positive. Yeah, I know, in the 'Merikkka of today that is a huge task. Still we have to try.

  2. It's really amazing how much they've let him get away with. Turn the tables -- if, for whatever reason, a liberal/left individual or small group went out targeting conservative politicians and organization like this...you can bet one, they'd be drowning in legal fees, and two, that at least some of the cadre would be in jail. In fact I could easily envision wingnut cackling and extremely ugly jokes (about prison rape)...along with the occasional faux pious "well, if you do the crime, you do the time" posturing (conveniently NOT applied to O'Keefe himself, Rush-pill-popper-and-doctor-shopper-Limbaugh, Scooter Libby, etc. etc.). Sadly, though, the noise machine ensures that regardless of how lame O'Keefe and others are (the Planned Parenthood nonsense), the narrative becomes part of the folklore. Blogger Heather Digby Parton calls it "Cokie's Law," after Cokie Roberts, nee Boggs ("doesn't matter if it's true or not, I was at the hairdresser and that's all they talked about"). So, you get to the point where ACORN still gets tagged in wingnut appropriations bills, and Planned Parenthood, a genuine lifeline for so many people, will be forced to perpetually fight rear-guard actions.

    What. Shit.

Anyway...was dismissed today, without ever being called. So it goes. If they ever call again, that's fine, if not, that's fine too. But I don't mind the idea. Juries are probably as close as most of us will get to the nuts and bolts of democracy...assuming they don't trash THAT system, the way they've done with so much else.

    Take it easy.
